Fast Box - How To Replace Reset Button
Overview: This guide will explain how to replace the Passcode Reset Button on the Fast Box™ 40 and 47.
Tools Needed: The following tools are required to complete this task (not included):
- Phillips-Head Screwdriver (recommend using hand tools rather than drill to avoid stripping screws)
- Flat-Head Screwdriver
Step 1: Locate the existing Reset Button
Your model may or may not have the red cap depending on when it was made
Step 2: Remove the lock washer and cap (if applicable) and press button housing through until fully recessed
Step 3: Set the cap and washer aside in a safe place.
Locate and remove the three (3) screws holding the door cover in place
- Set screws aside with cap and washe
Step 4: Follow the cable from the button to locate the connector on the chipset – the connector is on the underside of the metal protection plate. (it helps to prop the cabinet up
- Inspect the connection to make sure the housing unit for the plug is not damaged
Step 5: Carefully unplug the current button.
- Inspect the chip again to ensure that both prongs are intact
Step 6: Carefully install the new cable.
- Be sure to weave the cable under the locking bar and insert the tip just enough to hold it in place
- Use a small flat head screwdriver to gently press the connector into place
Note: DO NOT press too hard or you risk breaking either piece
Step 7: Inspect connection and cable placement
- Make sure the cable is under the lock rod and the tip is fully inserted (as shown below)
Step 8: Reattach the Button to the back of the door
- Stick button housing unit through the hole from underneath side, holding in place
- Slide ring of cap over cap and screw in the lock washer until tight (on front side of door
Note: Once completed, follow the instructions for resetting your code as a test and ensure that the new button is working.
